What's New In The Bike Park This Season

The 2016 season is just around the corner and opening day on May 20 will be the start of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park's 18th season. Here are a few highlights of what's in store for the upcoming season.

Creekside Trail Expansion Plans

The world’s best mountain bike park is about to become even better. The Whistler Blackcomb Renaissance will kick-off a multi-year expansion creating a trail network for all riding abilities in the Creekside area. The Creekside Gondola will operate throughout the summer, transforming Creekside’s summer experience into a scene that mirrors winter’s vibrancy. With over 50 km of new trails proposed, this will be the single largest new development in Whistler Mountain Bike Park’s history.

Renaissance investment is subject to satisfaction of a number of conditions, including municipal and provincial government approvals, as well as the successful renegotiation and extension of Whistler Blackcomb's Master Development Agreements and Master Plans, the completion of consultations with the Squamish and Lilâwat First Nations and finalization of a proposed business partnership with those First Nations. Whistler Blackcomb estimates the construction period for phases one and two will be approximately four to five years with the Watershed being open two years following receipt of all approvals.

Early Bird Season Passes and Multi-Day Passes On Sale Now

If you're going to be riding the park this year, this is the best time to buy the pass that is right for you.

See all Passes

Top of the World Season Pass
New this year, the Top of the World Season Pass has changed so passholders can ride one lap, as high as the open lifts will take you, every day, for the entire season. This means even in the spring when Fitzsimmons is the only lift open, you'll be able to still do one lap in the park every day. Once Top of the World opens this pass will give you daily access once a day to ride this trail if that's your choice.
Twilight Season Pass
If you're a regular 9-5'r and a Twilight Pass is the best for you, you'll now be able to start at 4:30pm during Extended Play hours. Our Creekside commuters will benefit from this and be able to take the Creekside Gondola up to access the rest of the park in the evenings.

Crank It Up

We were all wondering what is up with Crank It Up last year and when Crank It Up More was going to be finished.  Well, we had a super dry summer last year which didn't help with new trail builds.  We are expecting to get on it early and hope to have the new Crank It Up section built and ready by the end of June.  Stay tuned for more updates to come throughout the year.

GMC Pumptrack

Ride it or rail it - the GMC Pumptrack distills riding to its base elements: bike handling, cornering and pumping terrain. Located at the Whistler Village Gondola midstation, these sculpted piles of dirt will take your riding to the next level. Take a few laps to warm up in the morning, session it with your crew or just pop in to give it a try-it's time to get your pump on.

Raven's Nest

Perched at the top of the top of the Creekside Gondola, Raven’s Nest will open this summer to serve hungry park riders. A selection of hot food and cold drinks will be available to enjoy on the sunny valley facing patio.
