Riding on technical trails is the truest form of mountain biking found all around the world. Technical trails make up the majority of trails found in the bike park and range from Beginner to Expert. When riding Technical trails, understanding each trails unique characteristics is important to know before riding through with speed. Unexpected obstacles will appear and it’s important you have the proper knowledge and skill appropriate for which trail you’re on. Start your day by warming up on Technical trails of easier difficulty before progressively riding harder trails.

Rock rolls, or rock faces, are natural features found mainly within Technical type trails found more commonly on Advanced and Expert difficulty levels.  Before trying a rock roll for the first time, inspect the face first to understand the unique characteristics of it as each one is different.  Start small and understand your speed and stability before working your way to longer, steeper faces.

Jumps are what makes bike park riding so much fun but jumping properly is a difficult skill to learn if you’re not used to being in the air on a bike.  Specifically built jumps are found mainly on Freeride type trails and get progressively bigger with the higher the difficulty is.  Before riding down a Freeride trail make sure you roll through to get familiar with the shapes of the take-offs and landings as each jump can be different.  Once you have a proper understanding of the trail, begin with jumping small while progressively working your way to larger features.  Once mastering all the jumps on a certain trail you’ll then be ready to work your way up to the next difficulty.

Learning to corner properly is a fundamental skill with bike park riding. Throughout all trail types and difficulties, cornering properly will help you stay in control while carrying momentum throughout the trail. Built up berms are mostly found on Freeride type trails which progressively get bigger as you move higher in the levels of difficulty. Maintaining speed throughout the corner will allow you to find the right flow of the trail which is important when jumps or other features are next.
